Upgrading C++Builder 12.2: Tip #1, the Patch

Screenshot Radically Different Why C++Builder 122 Matters webinarWelcome to a series of tips and tricks for taking advantage of the new Windows 64-bit Modern toolchain in C++Builder / RAD Studio 12.2! This builds on a webinar we did sharing a bunch of useful information on why and how the new C++Builder matters to you, where this was the very end (so go watch the start!)

Tip #1: The Patch

After RAD Studio 12.2 was released, we released a patch for it, known as the 12.2 Inline Install. This resolved an issue with packages (no, not C++ packages which are fine, but the general packages the product shipped with.) Please make sure that’s what you have installed, and see Marco’s blog for more info.

Then, that patch introduced two regressions in C++, one opening projects and one building a complex C++ library. So there is a second patch, Patch 2. See Marco’s second blog for more info.

Basically, if you see this on the Welcome page:

Click it, follow the instructions, restart the IDE, and repeat until you don’t see it any more.

We know it’s not ideal installing patches, but in this case doing so is a real tip: you will get better results when you do.
