Question and Answer Database FAQ3749B.txt Unknown Internal Operating System Error Category :BDE Platform :Win95/NT Product : BC++5.x C++Builder1.0 C++Builder3.x Delphi2.x Delphi3.x Delphi4.x Question: Why am I getting an Unknown Internal Operating System Error when opening a Paradox or dBASE Table? Answer: This error can occur when attempting to open a Paradox or dBASE table whose language driver is not installed on your computer. In most circumstances this means a bad BDE install and BDE should be reinstalled. One way to determine a likely bad install is by running BDE administator and attempting to modify the langauge driver for the Paradox driver. If only one language driver is available, it indicates a bad install. This problem is most likely to occur with BDE 5.0 when deploying with a deployment tool that does not know about BDE 5.0. The problem occurs because BDE 5.0 includes a new mechanism for language drivers. To deploy BDE 5.0 language driver features with an older development tool be sure include BANTAM.DLL and *.BTL from the BDE directory on your deployment machine. 3/26/99
