We’re very pleased to announce the release of version 8 of the Konopka Signature VCL Controls (formerly Raize Components). Since acquiring the component library from Raize Software in 2015, there have been a few updates, but the library was starting to show its age. In response, last year Embarcadero partnered with Raize Software to assist with maintaining the Konopka Signature VCL Controls. For many experienced Delphi and C++Builder developers, Raize Components have been a very useful and welcome addition to the range of controls they can use to create VCL apps so it’s fantastic that they’re back with an all-new version 8 to bring them right up-to-date.

What is new in Konopka Signature Controls 8?
The first order of business for the new partnership was to update the component library to fully support the new features that have been added to RAD Studio since the acquisition. Most significantly, High DPI support. And not just High DPI support at runtime, but also High DPI Support at design-time, since the RAD Studio IDE can now be run in High DPI mode.

Practically every visual component in the library has been updated to provide better High DPI support. Each control was reviewed to determine which visual elements were not being adjusted properly during DPI changes. For example, the BorderWidth property of the TRzBorder. Other changes include the size of the HotSpot area in the TRzSplitter and the spacing and position of radio buttons and check boxes in the TRzRadioGroup and TRzCheckGroup, respectively.
In addition to much improved High DPI compatibility, many components were updated to provide better support for VCL Styles, specifically Dark styles. For example, the TRzToolbar no longer uses an old-style element for its display, and the tabs and buttons of the TRzTabControl and TRzPageControl have been updated to provide a clean, consistent appearance in both light and dark styles.
Are there any bug fixes in version 8 of the Konopka Signature Controls?
KSVC 8 also includes a significant number of bug fixes. The following lists some of the reported issues that have been fixed:
RSP-38977, RSP-38727, RSP-41467, RSP-39692, RSP-41467, RSP-40242
RSP-39198, RSP-36859, RSP-39130, RSP-42075, RSP-37177, RSS-2764
RSP-39937, RSP-40058, RSP-39540, RSP-43796, RSP-37318
Also included are fixes that restore some classic functionality in the components that were broken since the acquisition. For example, support for custom glyphs in TRzRadioButton and TRzCheckBox. For a complete list of all big fixes and details, please see the KSVC-ChangeLog.txt file included with the library.
New features in KSVC 8
This release is not just about bug fixes. There are plenty of new features that have been added. For instance, the TRzDialogButtons component, which is now used in all component editor dialogs, has several new properties to provide more control over button layout: ButtonHeight, ButtonMargin, and ButtonSpacing.
TRzCheckBox and TRzRadioButton have a new AutoSizeWidth property that defines the width of the control when AutoSize is True. This property ensures that word wrapping of the caption is performed consistently when the DPI changes. Again, all new features are described in the KSVC-ChangeLog.txt file.
Konopka Signature Controls 8 supports recent IDE changes
KSVC 8 also includes support for the latest innovations that have been added to RAD Studio. For example, leveraging the new Modern C++ 64-bit compiler. RAD Studio 12.3 users can also utilize KSVC in the new 64-bit IDE available as 64-bit design packages are provided. And speaking of the IDE, all KSVC component editors and property editors have been updated to support Light and Dark IDE Styles as well as High DPI. Currently, not even the built-in component editors do that.

Konopka Signature Controls 8 has all new stock image glyph images
Previous versions of KSVC included a set of stock glyphs (16×16 bitmap images) that were useful for buttons, toolbars, menus, etc. There was even a custom component editor that allowed developers to quickly select one of the stock glyphs.

KSVC 8 comes with a completely redesigned collection of glyphs designed to support modern applications. Instead of a single bitmap image, each glyph is represented by PNG images in multiple sizes: 16×16, 24×24, 32×32, 48×48, and 64×64. The glyphs are contained in the Images sub-directory and the files are named in such a way that makes it extremely easy to add them to a TImageCollection. Plus, the redesigned TRzSelectImageEditor and TRzToolbarEditor make it a snap to utilize the new images in your applications.
You can find them in the public documents folder – here’s what it looks like on my machine:

Long-time partner, new partnership
It has been a while since the Konopka Signature VCL Controls received a significant update. This new version represents the first major release of the library under the new Embarcadero – Raize Software partnership. KSVC 8 is available now via GetIt.

Attempting to install the package via Get-It Packaga Manager threw the following exception:
Procedure entry point “” in the DLL “C:\Users\Public\Documents\Embarcadero\Studio\23.0\BPL\RaizeComponentsVcl_Design290.bpl” was not found.
KSVC 8.0 does not work in the 64bit IDE.
It does work but there is a small issue with the current installer that means the final step of the GetIt installer doesn’t yet register the packages properly for the 64bit IDE. We’re working to fix that now, but you can manually add the BPLs yourself.
First of all, I am grateful that KSVC has been given an overhaul to catch up with the current capabilities of the VCL. Unfortunately, the support for TImageName, which was already criticized in RSP-41447, seems to have been overlooked. I hope this will be rectified as soon as possible.
