The AWS SDK for Delphi is presented as a powerful tool that allows developers to access Amazon Web Services APIs in a Delphi-friendly manner, offering a direct wrapper for these APIs.

One of the key features demonstrated is image analysis using Amazon Rekognition. The video showcases how the SDK can be used to detect and label objects within images, providing bounding boxes and confidence scores for identified objects.

Not a Hotdog! How to Use AI Object Recognition in Your Apps

In this webinar, Ian Barker and Appercept’s Richard Hatherall offer a live demonstration of the “Not a Hot Dog” application, a project inspired by the HBO series Silicon Valley. The app, developed using RAD Studio, utilizes the AWS recognition SDK from AEP to perform real-time object recognition. The core functionality involves capturing an image via the device’s camera and sending it to Amazon’s cloud-based recognition service. This service analyzes the image and returns labels, or tags, identifying the objects it detects, along with a confidence score indicating the certainty of each identification.

Barker and Hatherall emphasize the simplicity of integrating AI object recognition into applications using the AWS SDK. Despite the complex technology behind it, the code required to interact with Amazon’s services is surprisingly concise. The webinar also highlights the versatility of the AWS SDK, which extends beyond basic object recognition to include features like facial and celebrity detection, text extraction from images and videos, and even the ability to train custom recognition models.
