Using the GetIt patch mechanism, Embarcadero is alerting customers on prior RAD Studio 10.4 releases that 10.4.2 is available and offering a simplified way to install it.
Since RAD Studio 10.4, the IDE has a mechanism to deliver patches via GetIt and an option to alert users that patches are available in the Welcome page. Given there isn’t a similar mechanism to alert about a new release, we have made an attempt to use the patches also to deliver the 10.4.2 release.
In short, if you are using 10.4 or 10.4.1 and you have an active update subscription, you should see a new patches alert in the Welcome page, and once you open the GetIt Package Manager patches section, you should see that 10.4.2 is available:
If you install it, after accepting the EULA, the system will show a readme file (see below) explaining the process and open the folder with the installer executable. Notice that the installation is not automatic, as selecting Install in GetIt will only download the patch. The reason is that installation of 10.4.2 still requires uninstalling the current version and installing the new version. The advantage of this this process is that it offers an alert mechanism and a simplified download directly from the IDE (rather than from an external site).
Notice: If you are not interested in installing 10.4.2 (for any reason) you can “silence” the patch notification by downloading the patch and not installing it.
The 10.4.2 Installer Package Readme
This GetIt package contains the online installer for RAD Studio, Delphi, and C++ Builder 10.4 Release 2 (also known as 10.4.2). As an alternative, you can download the ISO, offline installer from the customer portal at my.embarcadero.com.
You should close RAD Studio before running the installer. Even if delivered in the “patch” GetIt channel, this is not a patch, but rather a new release. This installer will proceed uninstalling your current version of RAD Studio and install the new version, preserving the configuration settings (if you leave the corresponding option untouched from its default) from the registry. You can also consider running the Migration Tool to make a copy of your configuration before starting the installer. See http://docwiki.embarcadero.com/RADStudio/Sydney/en/Settings_Migration_Tool.
You can see what’s new in 10.4.2 at:

Thanks for using Delphi, C++Builder or RAD Studio and we hope you’ll enjoy using the new 10.4.2 release.
