Word of the Day: BOGO

01 Jul

The new word around here is BOGO – or Buy On, Get One.  Free that is.  Right now, if you buy any Embarcadero product, you can get a different Embarcadero product of equal or lesser value for free.  That’s right – Free. As in no additional money.  As in register your purchased product, get the code, go to our website, enter the code, choose a product, and get it for free.   But you need to do it before August 24.  That’s when the deal expires. There are some restrictions – not many – so now is the time to buy.

There are a lot of prices out there that you can pay, but of all the prices there are, I think we can all agree that Free is the best one.  I know that it is my favorite price, and I pay that price as often as I can.  :-)

    My Delphi was purchased in 2008, can I participate in?

    So what happens after August 24? :)

    Bas Says:

    Does this mean if I buy Delphi 2009, I get Delphi 2010 for free?

    BOGO, I like that offer!

    In retailing, the expression is BOGOF. Buy One, Get One Free.

    Hope it works here in Europe, too. The recent special offer for RAD didn’t exist from my German supplier, instead they wanted to bundle a bunch of libraries I didn’t need.

    Just had a look.

    If purchase an upgrade from D2007 Pro -> D2009 Pro, I can get free:

    * C++ Builder upgrade (I don’t have an older C++ Builder)

    * Delphi for PHP upgrade (I don’t have D4PHP)

    * JBuilder upgrade (Don’t have JBuilder)

    * Interbase/3rd Rail - I don’t need.

    Mike Says:

    Delphi Pro Upgrade qualifies for D4PHP new user, and you should also qualify for C++Builder Pro Upgrade because you own a Delphi Pro license.

    @Bas: That would be nice, but it would really surprise me if D2010 was released before August 24.

    In fact, that might answer Pani’s question. August 25, Delphi 2010 gets released! :D

    gotoh Says:

    @Mike: Yes, I qualify for a C++Builder upgrade. But I don’t have an old C++Builder license to upgrade from!

    BOGO sounds very much alike bogus…. I wouldn’t use that work in marketing ;)

    M J Marshall Says:

    Kent - it’s even worse - Buy One, Get One Free = BOGOF ("Bog Off", British slang akin to "F*** Off")

    Matthew Says:

    Mental note: don’t buy anything else from CodeGear until these sorts deals come out.

    Niels Says:

    I bought an upgrade to Delphi 2009 two days before the ‘upgrade to D2009 and you get an upgrade to RAD studio for free’ offer (for the whole of June). So of course I asked Glenn Wylie (who offered it to me in a personalised email) whether I would qualify for the deal. Did he bother to answer? Did he heck. So until they sort out their customer care, I don’t think I’ll spend any more of my hard-earned cash there…

    …wow. I suggested, as a joke, that D2010 would be released the day after this offer ends. Turns out that’s exactly what’s going to happen!
