CodeGear RAD Studio 2007 — It’s Here!
CodeGear RAD Studio is now available for sale on our shopsite. It should also be available from various resellers throughout the world.
RAD Studio 2007 is the latest and greatest suite product from the CodeGear labs. It’s new features include:
- ASP.NET 2.0 support
- VCL.NET suppport with access to the entire .Net 2.0 framework
- A new .Net 2.0 compiler that supports Generics
- ECO IV with VCL.NET Support
- Blackfish SQL — a fully managed SQL-compliant database that allows you to write your Stored Procedures and triggers in Delphi for .Net
You can get a look at some of the new features in the release as part of the Launch Video I did with David I last week. In addition, be sure to sign up for the RAD Studio 2007 Developer Days. A bunch of the R&D Engineers will be giving deep-dive demos and will be available to take your questions.
In addition, Delphi 2007 and C++Builder 2007 owners should very shortly be getting notified by the the IDE that Update 3 is available. Update 3 consists of a large number of bug fixes that occurred during the process of creating RAD Studio 2007. This article has a long list of the bugs fixed for Update 3 in Delphi and the list for C++Builder as well. There were over 500 fixes made to Delphi 2007, including over 100 of them from QualityCentral. Nice. And as always, bug fix updates are free for all customers.
If you are looking for more information about RAD Studio 2007, one place to start is our BetaBloggers, who have quite a bit of cool stuff to take a look at:
- The kmbMW are using RAD Studio 2007 with their tools
- Bruce McGee likes the constantly improving and to-be-frequently-updated help
- Holger Flick thinks that VCL.NET and ECO are a match-made in heaven.
- Thomas Pfister has a pretty good rundown of the new features.
- John Moshakis has another match made in heaven: ASP.NET 2.0 and Blackfish
So, don’t wait — get out there and get your copy immediately. If you’ve been waiting, now is the time to buy. Don’t be the last kid on the block to have your copy. ![]()

RAD Studio 2007 is binary compatible on the Win32 with Delphi 2006 and Delphi 2007.
It’s a breaking change for Delphi for .Net.

September 10th, 2007 at 7:05 pmDont you think that such announcements (ie new versions like RAD Studio 2007) should be informed first to SA customers with info on download links.?This will make CodeGear look more like a professional company that cares for its customers

September 10th, 2007 at 7:39 pmWhy have you not mentioned ECO IV as one of the features?

Will there be an ISO available for download? If I have to download RAD studio this is my preferred method rather than having an installer download it.

September 10th, 2007 at 11:42 pmI agree with Venkatesh about why SA customers aren’t informed first about new releases. Is there a technical reason for it?
It’s a tad annoying to see all these blog posts about it and as a paid up SA customer we’re expected to wait. Although I’m just impatient and I’d like to tinker with RAD Studio 2007!
September 11th, 2007 at 5:35 amHas the C# personality been eliminated from this package too? Could mean that we will be forced to switch. Our company will not shell out double the amount to get both Delphi and C# when we’re only maintaining legacy Delphi now. They’ll tell us just to stay at 2006 for Delphi…

Yes, I do think that SA customers should be the first to receive product.

When is it being released to SA customers (date)?. I had a harrowing time getting Delphi 2007 enterprise under SA. I think you need to cleanup the SA act and not offer lip service to it. This stems from my bad experience since 2005, BDS2006…. CG need to go a longway in Customer service.

Emails to SA customers should be going out Monday. I agree that this process needs to be improved. It is better this time around, but still needs to be improved.

Thanks Nick for showing concern for the faceless SA customer. Hope to exprerience a better "First Experience Jargaon advocated by Jim Douglas"
Just an Observation- I thought you implemented your IhateCapsLockKey in the "Leave a Reply" area, used to seeing name/e-mail in lowercase.
John Caster has done a great job on improving the look and feel of Codegear blog.
September 11th, 2007 at 8:20 pmI’m choosing where to upgrade. Does RAD Studio 2007 Pro containes all features of Delphi 2007 Pro?
best regards
