Delphi 2007 for Win32 Update #1 is Now Available

06 Jun

Delphi 2007 for Win32 Update #1 is now available.  Delphi developers all over the world should be getting notified about it via the Automatic Update method.  If you don’t have the IDE checking automatically for you, you can use the menu item on the Start menu for checking.

Some items to note:

  • The install will actually uninstall your existing installation, and then reinstall.  However, your settings, components, etc. should all remain — fear not.
  • When you are done, the About Box should report that you are running Version 11.0.2709.7128
  • There are some docs and FAQ’s online if you need further information:

In addition, if you want to go the old, more traditional route, you can go to the registered user page and download the whole update and then run it from your own machine.

Nice, installing now… keep up the good work guys.

Can you guys start writing stuff that works reliably?

Download for update when OK, then the whole thing hung up and now I can’t work out how to get it all started. Man Borland can make life difficult …

    Duncan –

Sorry you are having trouble — it has worked reliably for the hundreds of installs we’ve done internally, and for our field testers.

What trouble are you currently having?

    Nick

    Duncan Stodart Says:

Check for update says there is no update available, but version in help about is still 11.0.2627.5503.

I’m downloading the full update and will try that …

Thank you for this update! It went very smooth and almost flawless here. It seems al my settings and have remained. My designtime packages (Jedi a.o.) seemed to have disappeared, but when I attempted to re-add them, they complained about begin already installed and *poof* suddenly appeared in the list. So far, so good. Will try to rebuild some of my projects to be sure, but I am confident it will work. Thanks again for continually improving Delphi!

All of the TWordApplication etc are gone since this update. Please help…..

    Ken Randall Says:

Update re-installs Tee 710 even though it had been removed and Tee 711 installed. Should be an option as to whether tee install the provided Teechart or not. Otherwise so far so good :)

Well, here the installation went not smooth at all:

1 - when refusing the internet update once, all further attempt end up in a "No CodeGear RAD studio updates available"

    2 - setup.exe /update doesn’t help

3 - impossible to log-in to get the install package manually - same as above

4 - esd requires to shutdown immediately the delphi to update, so during the whole update process, the delphi IDE is unavailable. As it may take several hours to update …

5 - If you refuse to shutdown the delphi to be updated, the update proceed, then crash and also your current delphi installation crash and have to be repaired.

So this ESD is far from optimal, and highly dangerous imho

Okay, tried the automatic updatre. Update died on me. "Could not de-install" the RAD Studio.

Please try to do this manually. Tried this. Now everything is broken.

Many thanks. At least 2 weeks work. oh, and now I have 12 installations of Delphi left.

  21. 21
    Tom Urlep Says:

No problems here. Everything went smooth. Project compiles and runs as usual.

I was hoping that update will solve the problem of disapearing nonvisual components under the PageControl ( i must click PageControl then control/send to back ). Captions under controls also disapear ( i must uncheck and check Tools/Options/VCL designer/Show component captions ). Annoying!

  22. 22
    Ken White Says:

"Check for Updates" apparently doesn’t work when you’re behind a proxy server; it said no updates were available. Following the link for the "traditional method" seems to work, however. (At least I’m downloading now.)

  23. 23
    Markus Müller Says:

The update is still running but I had already two issues with it:

    - DExplorer.Exe was still running. The German translation of the message asking to shut down the process is corrupt. The last sentence is half German half English.

    - During uninstall I got the following error report from tregsvr.exe: Assertion Failed: (IResult == ERROR_SUCESS) || (IResult == ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND), file ..\win32\w32com.cpp, line 488

  24. 24
    David Howes Says:

So does downlaoding from the registered users page and then installing from there work better than the automated update?. I was thinking about an upgrade to D2007, but I think I may have to wait another release until the installer is properly implemented. Seems D2007 isn’t quite the ‘must have’ update it is billed as :-)

  25. 25
    Steve Says:

When I run the setup.exe /update. I’m getting: "Line1668: Attempting to get value of undefined variable Prod_Key1." Anyone else have this issue?

    Suriyont Mujjalintrakool Says:

Please check the ISO image download. I downloaded and it’s only 160 meg in size instead of 4.15 gig. Tried many times already and keeping getting the same 160 meg file.

  27. 27
    Scott Woods Says:

An update with my issues - I rebooted Vista (duh) and the installer worked like a champ. It was a MS issue not a CodeGear issue.

  28. 28
    Liz Kimber Says:

    I thought it was setup.exe /upgrade not /update to upgrade the delphi2007…

  29. 29
    Liz Kimber Says:

    PS -

If you try and download the ISO from FF it says 162mb or something, if you use the cmd line ftp from windows, it finds all 4.5gb of it.

Seems to have hung on my XP pro 64bit system.

This looks bad, if I have to reinstall all my stuff from scratch, I am not going to be happy………

It finally finished and works fine. However I noticed that QC 43477 is not fixed and I still see this behavior on XP Pro 64bit SP2.

  35. 35
    Tom Birch Says:

I updated one notebook and one desktop. Both ran into the delay during the Collecting Information phase. The desktop ended up rebooting while I tried to use SysInternals to figure out what was going on. After rebooting, I found the Setup.Exe and ran Setup /upgrade and everything ran fine. They both were WIN XP Pro computers. The notebook I started around 10pm last night and as of 8am this morning it was still running, working, but still running.

  36. 36
    snorkel Says:

Looks like QC 43477 was never fixed at all, but simple closed automatically:

How many other supposed fixes are not really fixed but closed automatically with no resolution comments?

    To Magnus Holmberg

Delphi has the option of supporting 2 different versions of Office. Go to Component | Install Packages… and pick the one you need.

DONT USE THIS UNDER VISTA !

I installed this and am now getting divide by zero errors and immediate crashes on shut down.

The update is broken and needs an update itself.

    Markus Says:

No additional issues (see earlier comment). It downloaded all packages again instead of using the previously downloaded ones.

For me it’s working with Vista Businness.

    Rasmus Møller Selsmark Says:

Where can I find information about which changes has been made in this update 1?

It seems that the releasenotes in the update are the same as the releasenotes for the original Delphi 2007 for Win32. It would be nice to know what specific changes has been made in this update.

Tried automatic update, but the update got stuck on the Welcome screen and I has to kill the process after several hours. I downloaded the 700 MB pack and the update got stuck again with no CPU usage.
