Random Thoughts on the Passing Scene #3
30 Jun
- Jeff Atwood is exactly right. Initial estimates of a software project’s cost and duration are almost always wildly inaccurate. Realizing this is the first step to dealing with this intractable problem.
- I’m a firm believer that you can tell a lot about an organization by reading the Dilbert comics that are posted on the doors and cubicles of the folks that work there.
- I’m a firm believer that interesting, vigorous discussions in the *.delphi.non-technical newsgroup is a good thing.
- Looks like somebody was interested after all.
- I think now I maybe understand what Pat Kerpan was talking about a couple of years ago at Borcon.

While I find most of your random thoughts interesting, it’s the 6th one that hits home the hardest.
