Call for sysops [Update]

The QC stats link (which I posted in this earlier entry asking for sysop volunteers) isn’t working, so I thought I’d update it with a manual query:

Delphi Delphi Prism C++
1/19/2009 3249 0 88
10/10/2007 4008 N/A 107

I don’t have a reliable method of verifying this, but when I first started as a sysop C++ had over 400 reports that hadn’t been moved out of the "reported" status.

You can help. Please let me know. The quality of Delphi will only get better as more sysops help focus in on this backlog.

    Thank you. I’ve corrected the date.

    What this table doesn’t show though is the tremendous difference that was made in the C++ project due to the added volunteers. The C++ backlog dropped by more than 80% The same thing can be done for Delphi.

    There are a number of reasons that reports don’t get opened, and it isn’t just because they may be difficult to reproduce. The main problem is a lack of triage. The quality of reports varies greatly, that is where the sysops can be most valuable. Marking a report for attention gives the internal team some guidance as to where there are good reports.

    We are adding additional resources and QC is a great training tool, so I don’t expect sysops to do the work alone.

    Put this in perspective. nearly 800 reports have been handled in the past year and this has been a tremendous boost to the quality of the product.

    Being a sysop isn’t the only way to help either. Rating reports, voting, and commenting on reports also gives us valuable information that helps us to help you.

    I suspect your 1/19/2008 ref is really 1/19/2009.

    If that is the case, you now have a over a year of data, to look at. From an external perspective it looks like some major help is still needed, as the net drop is apx 750.

    The same problem a sysop has in reproducing a problem the same problem an Internal person would have.

    If quality is still a focus, and I believe it is (as I have seen it), the community can not be the only source to help here. It might be time to to get additional internal help.
