For those of you who need to learn more about Delphi programming, Alister Christie (http://learndelphi.tv/) who is one of our Embarcadero MVPs, has 74 free Delphi tutorial videos and a long form training videos "Building Applications in Delphi Using the Visual Component Library Part 1 and 2" (12 hours of training) available for sale - http://learndelphi.tv/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=8&Itemid=30. Alister is also working on a Part 3 training video (coming soon).
Alister has been producing videos on Delphi for over 5 years now and is making the long form training videos available for purchase. He is in the finishing touches on to Part 3 of Building Applications in Delphi with the Visual Component Library.
Alister’s most recent Delphi training movie is about THeaderControl. The 20 minute video is available to watch on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrF9gpRsX5M. Alister blogged about the video saying "In this video we take a detailed look at the THeaderControl component. It is an extract from Building Apps in Delphi with the VCL Part 3 (to be released shortly). I had intended not to cover the THeaderControl as as it is not a particularly exciting control, however after asking on StackOverflow, I decided that I would cover it - and to make it available for free. You can watch it on YouTube, it’s about 20 minutes long and is typical of the coverage I give many of the VCL components. If you like this video you should consider purchasing Part 1 or Part 2, between them they cover about 60 components, plus many of the properties and events not covered in this video."
The complete list of LearnDelphi.tv training videos can be found at http://learndelphi.tv/index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=4&Itemid=27
Alister also has videos about the FireMonkey business application platform including the wonderful "FireMonkey Periodic Table" - in this 26 minute video, Alister Christie builds a Period Chart of the Elements in FireMonkey. The example is based on a similar project created for "Building VCL Apps Part 1". You can watch the video here, or watch it on YouTube.

Hi I’m trying to dl some documentation for FireMonkey but there are some missing links. At http://www.embarcadero.com/firemonkey/firemonkey-e-learning-series all the links for lesson 9 are missing. At http://cc.embarcadero.com/Author/3934 the couse book for lesson 9 shows as 0 bytes and won’t download. If you could provide a link to the lesson 9 couse book that would be great.
Regards,
Hamilton
couse course. apparently i cannot type ;p
A separate issue, downloading the videos is painful! I’ve tried getting them all about 6-7 times now and I have 3, the rest keep timing out. Time for a server and systems upgrade? Or to host your files on someone else’s server who has good bandwidth? If i didn’t really want to watch these vids I would have given up hours ago.
PS Sorry for posting this all here but I have no idea how to get through to you otherwise!
Hamilton - you can always email me at davidi at embarcadero dot com. My email address is also in the course book lessons. I’ve checked the video links and they are all working. I will check for any bandwidth issues.
If the problem videos are for Alister Christie’s training videos - contact him directly via his site.
Hi David,
Thanks for the reply.
The resources I posted originally are still missing! The second issue is that I spent about 10 hours yesterday intermitently trying to dl the videos, I used IE and Chrome with no difference, and it took all day to get 8 of them down. At the moment I am trying to get http://cc.embarcadero.com/Item/28950; it takes about 50 seconds for the page to load and clicking the download button does nothing (most of the time, as I say I eventually got 8 vids). I’ve tried getting the video for lesson 9 more than 10 times now and still don’t have it
If you prefer to take this convesation offline you can email me at support at monitorwa dot com.au.
Regards,
Hamilton
I’ve finally managed to obtain all 9 videos
If you could please ask someone to update the pages I posted to include links to the missing lesson 9 PDF that would be great. On a separate note; nice course! Thanks for making this material available.
Regards,
Hamilton
