I demoed Delphi 2009, C++Builder 2009, and Delphi for PHP v2 at Oracle Open World this week…

I just returned from San Francisco where I attended the 2008 Oracle Open World conference and exhibition.  Embarcadero Technologies had a booth in the Moscone South Hall where we demoed the DatabaseGear and CodeGear products and met with customers.  I demoed native code Windows application development for Oracle using Delphi 2009 and C++Builder 2009.  I also demoed Web 2.0 application development for Oracle databases with Delphi for PHP.

The booth was packed with attendees each day to see the DB Optimizer, ER/Studio, Performance Center, Change Manager, DBArtisan, and my developer presentations.  We were also giving away cool t-shirts with our "Design It, Build It, Run It" statement.   All of the Embarcadero Technologies products put together give companies, teams, and individuals the most complete software tooling for 1) the design of databases and applications, 2) the building of SQL statements, stored procedures, triggers, databases, and applications (using native, managed, and dynamic languages), and 3) support for running applications with database administration, application and database profiling and tuning, and performance and change management for the same.

Our booth was right next to Quest Software’s booth.  So it was fun to tell the audience during my native code development presentations that Toad for Windows is built with Delphi (so is the Windows client for Skype).

There are many other products build with Delphi - you can find a larger list at

Don’t forget Adobe Captivate, and TopStyle. I was lucky enough to work on both of them.

Guess Embarcadero was really happy you were taliking about Toad… anyway not only Toad but many Quest products are written in Delphi, AFAIK Spotlight is written at least using the VCL too.
